Reviews for Shin Yangpyung Haejang-Guk
Review highlights
Based on 1,096 reviewsShin Yangpyung Haejang-Guk is widely recognized for its authentic Korean flavors, attracting a strong local Korean clientele that underscores its genuine culinary appeal. The restaurant is praised for its hearty, comforting soups and generous portions, especially in dishes like tofu stew, spicy pork bone soup, and beef offal soup. Customers appreciate the attentive and professional service, enhancing the overall dining experience. While some find certain broths lighter than expected, the overall flavor profile remains satisfying. The side dishes, though limited in variety, are well-liked and complement the main courses effectively. Parking and wait times can be challenging during peak hours, but patrons consider the experience worthwhile for genuine, filling Korean comfort food at reasonable prices.
All the other tables were filled with Korean customers — we were the only locals, so I guess that means the food is really authentic (? ) Prices are slightly high, but reasonable since there’s plenty of meat in each portion. I was a bit disappointed with the beef rib soup though — the flavor was too light for my taste, and the beef had a slight gamey smell. Surprisingly, the spicy pork bone soup was much better and tastier
Tasty hearty Korean soups, so comforting. Simple but delicious food. Love the kimchi too!
I love this place! I come here each time I’m in town. The food is delicious and the price is good. Portion is good too. The staff are attentive, patient and professional. Definitely a place to visit for tummy and comfort food. Look at my empty pot! Will be back again!
Highly recommend this Korean restaurant! The food is authentic — I especially love their tofu stew . The chicken soup is full of ingredients and tastes amazing! The beef offal soup is light yet flavorful, and every soup is packed with generous portions . The dolsot bibimbap — a classic Korean dish — is perfectly suited to my taste . There are only three kinds of side dishes, but that’s more than enough — each one has an authentic Korean flavor, just like what you’d get in Korea. I’m really satisfied with this meal .
Recently, my family brought me to this place located at Desa Sri Hartamas. We went during the weekend dinner time and had to wait a little for a table, but it was totally worth it ???? Parking nearby is a bit tricky, so try to come earlier if you can! Here’s what we ordered: Haejang-guk – 9/10 Pork Haejangkuk – 9/10 Bibimmyun – 8/10 Jajangmyun – 7.8/10 Side dishes were generously served too This isn’t your typical flashy, social media-famous spot, but the flavors were genuinely Korean and really comforting Whether you’re a Korean food lover or not, this place is worth a try! Opening hours: 10am–3pm, 5pm–9:30pm Closed on: Tuesdays Overall rating: Food: Service: Environment:
Their soup dishes are popular here, and we especially like the beef rib soup! Their kimchi is super nice!
My family member does not eat beef so we ordered the pork options. Everything was tasty, but the batch of Kimchi especially the cucumber ones may be too newly made there's no fermentation taste at all. Pork stew was good. Meat was super tender.
This place gets quite crowded during dinner, so be prepared to wait a bit for a table. But it’s definitely worth it! The kimchi here is absolutely amazing and a must-try. I never skip the spicy beef soup and cold noodles—they’re my go-to dishes every visit. The unlimited refills of side dishes are a great bonus and keep the meal satisfying. If you love Korean food, this spot is a solid choice despite the wait time.
